Thomson Reuters shares vision for future of AI and the legal profession.

Building on its commitment to invest over $100 million annually in AI capabilities, as announced during its Q1 FY23 results, Thomson Reuters is introducing a new plugin in collaboration with Microsoft 365 Copilot. Microsoft's advanced AI experiences across its productivity suite will strengthen efforts to redefine professional work, starting with legal research, drafting, and client collaboration.

Today's announcements solidify Thomson Reuters' position as a leader in leveraging cutting-edge technologies, including AI and machine learning (ML). For over three decades, Thomson Reuters has utilized increasingly advanced AI and ML capabilities to enhance search functionality and expand advanced analytics for its customers. Alongside the integration of Microsoft 365 Copilot, Thomson Reuters intends to incorporate new generative AI capabilities across its product suite, including:

  • Westlaw Precision: Empowering customers to find answers to complex legal questions within seconds, utilizing proprietary expert content with the assistance of generative AI.

  • Practical Law: Offering smarter and quicker access to the expertise of over 650 attorney editors, combined with the power of generative AI.

  • Checkpoint Edge: Delivering swift and reliable solutions to intricate tax and accounting inquiries.

  • Legal Document Review and Summary: With generative AI swiftly scanning through hundreds or even thousands of relevant documents, customers can identify crucial risks, resolve queries, complete tasks, and generate compelling work product. This functionality is powered by HighQ, Practical Law, and Document Intelligence.

  • Legal Drafting: Bringing together Thomson Reuters' trusted content and intelligence from Westlaw, Practical Law, and Document Intelligence to surface key insights, legal knowledge, and answers to complex questions.
